The good wife has found her next TV role. "The Good Wife" star Julianna Margulies will return to television with a starring role in AMC's "Dietland," a comedic drama based on Sarai Walker's novel of the same name; accomplished screenwriter Marti Noxon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") has adapted the story for AMC. Margulies will star alongside Joy Nash ("Twin Peaks") in the series, which explores what it means to be a feminist in modern times, according to Deadline.

"Dietland" follows Plum Kettle (Nash), an obese woman prepping for a major weight-loss surgery when she finds herself in the middle of a war between two feminist groups. Set in the chaotic world of the beauty industry, Plum has to define for herself what it means to be a feminist revolutionary in 2017. Marguiles will play Kitty Montgomery, an ambitious magazine editor whose inner circle become targets of a feminist terror organization. Finding herself in new territory where her media powers no longer carry weight, Montgomery begins a new game of no-holds-barred manipulation.

Noxon will executive produce the series alongside Skydance's David Ellison ("World War Z"), Dana Goldberg ("Star Trek: Into Darkness"), Marcy Ross ("Grace and Frankie"), Jacqueline Hoyt ("The Good Wife"), Maria Grasso from Noxon's production banner Tiny Pyro and Bonnie Curtis ("Life") and Julie Lynn ("Life") of Mockingbird Pictures. The writer and executive producer praised Marguiles' acting credentials, saying:
Juliana is diabolically talented and beautiful, which makes her perfect to play our Kitty. I am genuinely honored to have the opportunity to work with her. She’s a special human and a rare actor. I can’t wait to start and for the world to get a load of this show.
Marguiles previously graced TV screens with her leading role as lawyer and "good wife" Alicia Florrick in CBS' "The Good Wife," which ended in 2016. She earned two Primetime Emmys and a Golden Globe for her work on the series.

"Dietland" will premiere in 2018.
