WATCH: Claire Foy Returns With Official Trailer for 'The Crown' Season 2

The award-winning series, "The Crown" has a new official trailer. Netflix released the official Season 2 trailer Monday morning.
Season 1 of "The Crown" followed Queen Elizabeth II from her life as the heir apparent to King George VI through her turbulent early years as the Queen of England. Season 2 continues the life of the queen as England enters the early 1960s amid political upheaval. There is also plenty of family drama as tension heightens between the Queen and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh. And further problems arise between Elizabeth and her young sister, Princess Margaret.
Claire Foy won the Golden Globe for Outstanding Lead Actress for the first season of the drama series. She was also nominated for the Primetime Emmy. In addition to "The Crown," she can be seen in theaters in "Breathe," opposite Andrew Garfield. She is currently filming Damien Chazelle's "First Man," and was recently announced as the next Lisbeth Salander in "The Girl in the Spider's Web."
Also returning for the second season is Matt Smith as Prince Philip. He appeared in small or uncredited roles before becoming on of television's most iconic characters in "Doctor Who" for BBC. He will next be seen fighting a global pandemic in "Patient Zero" with Natalie Dormer.
In addition to Golden Globes for Foy and for the series, "The Crown" has also been nominated for 12 Emmy awards. The series earned wins for Supporting Actor John Lithgow as Winston Churchill, as well as Production Design and Costuming.
The series was created by acclaimed screenwriter Peter Morgan. The two-time Academy Award nominee wrote the scripts for "Frost/Nixon," and "The Queen."
The highly anticipated second season will be available on Netflix beginning December 8.
