The cast is coming together for Lifetime's new biopic "The Simone Biles Story" about American gymnast Simone Biles. Julius Tennon ("How to Get Away with Murder"), Tisha Campbell-Martin ("My Wife and Kids") have just boarded the project to play Ron and Nellie Biles, Simone Biles' parents, according to Deadline. Newcomer Jeanté Godlock is set to play the high-flying gymnast in the film, which follows Biles' journey to become one of the world's greatest gymnasts of all time.
"The Simone Biles Story" is a film adaptation of Biles' biography "Courage To Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance," and details her path from foster care to 19 Olympic and World Championship medals. Adapted for Lifetime by Kelly Fullerton ("The Fosters"), the biopic will be executive produced by Howard Braunstein, Tom Patricia, Janey Miller, Kyell Thomas for Octagon and Biles herself.
Campbell-Martin will be a familiar face to TV audiences, previously starring in Martin Lawrence's "Martin," Damon Wayans' "My Wife and Kids" and Ken Jeong's "Dr. Ken." Tennon was featured in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and recently guest-starred on wife Viola Davis' "How to Get Away with Murder." The couple also run their own production company, JuVee Productions, producing films "Lila & Eve" and "Custody." New Goldlock will be seen next in "Dear Dodd," playing lead character Amy Williams.
"The Simone Biles Story" is currently filming in Vancouver, Canada, and is set to premiere on Lifetime in 2018.
