New Collection of Agatha Christie Adaptations are Headed to Amazon

Amazon has signed a deal with Mammoth Screen to become the exclusive home of a series of new Agatha Christie adaptations, according to Variety.
Mammoth Screen is a UK-based television production company that launched in 2007. The company entered a partnership with the late author's estate, Agatha Christie Limited, to produce seven adaptations.
The first is "Ordeal by Innocence," published in 1958. It is the story of Jack Argyle, who went to prison for murdering his own mother. After Jack dies in prison, evidence surfaces that proves his innocence. The Argyle family has to face the truth, that one of them is a murderer. Those close to Christie say she considered it one of her favorite stories.
The cast for this mini-series includes: Bill Nighy ("Love Actually), Catherine Keener ("Get Out"), Matthew Goode ("Downton Abbey"), Ella Purnell ("Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children"), and more.
The last adaptation of "Ordeal by Innocence" starred Donald Sutherland, Faye Dunaway, Christopher Plummer, and Ian McShane.
The series will be written by Sarah Phelps. She has written a number of mini-series and television movies. Some of her adaptations include the Charles Dickens works "Great Expectations" and "Oliver Twist," as well as the JK Rowling novel, "Casual Vacancy."
Directing "Ordeal by Innocence" is Sandra Goldbacher. She built her career on high-profile commercials, but has also directed several theatrical and television movies.
Mammoth Screen has seven planned Agatha Christie projects. The subsequent titles have not been announced. This partnership comes ahead of this fall's release of another Agatha Christie adaptation: "Murder on the Orient Express." While Mammoth Screen is not involved in that film, its success would likely help raise the profile of future projects.
There is no word yet on when "Ordeal by Innocence" will be available on Amazon. The series is scheduled to premiere in the UK sometime later this year.
