Congress Resolution on Yemen: Emirates Embrace Trump's

The United Arab Emirates, one of the pillars of the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, Wednesday hailed US President Donald Trump's veto of a congressional resolution urging him to stop supporting military operations in the country at war.

"The important decision of President Trump is both timely and strategic," Emirati Foreign Minister Anwar Gargash told reporters on Twitter.

He said the coalition continued to "support the UN's peace efforts in Yemen" and to take into account the "humanitarian and political dimensions" of the crisis in that war-ravaged country for years.

Donald Trump on Tuesday vetoed a congressional resolution urging him to stop all US support for the Arab coalition in the war in Yemen.

"This resolution is an unnecessary and dangerous attempt to weaken my constitutional powers, endangering the lives of US citizens," Trump said of the text passed by both houses of Congress earlier this month.....
