Do we really know what Leadership qualities apply, as we shift through digital transformation and innovation? Will we be successful, if we exercise leadership qualities associated with corporate management, or do we need to shift to a more entrepreneurial leadership style when creating innovation and new products & services?
Transformational leadership is needed and it is needed now! Leadership needs to be purposeful. Change efforts need to be designed differently! There needs to be a clear understanding of 'why'. And instead of expecting Employees to simply conform to innovation and change, they need to be involved and engaged.
Hence, Leaders need to act transparently, dare to be different, connect and collaborate with authenticity and ultimately shape their company future. They need to be obsessed with the customer experience and have each Employee truly own that customer experience. Ultimately, Leaders need to continuously reassess, understand and connect back to their company purpose, values and beliefs in order to survive, thrive and succeed in this change, sustainably. Today we speak of digital transformation. What we really mean is transformational leadership, in which culture and ultimately the soul of the company is rebuilt. Without transformational leadership companies will not shift and instead stagnate.

About the speakerI am a change-maker, a solopreneur, a digital junkie, someone who wants to make the world a greater place, a yogini and yoga teacher, and a seeker of truth. As a former digital expert, client partner, MD and recently GM of a 70+ person ideas and innovation company, I worked for 18+ years for four globally recognised design and technology consultancies - Pixelpark, SapientNitro, Accenture, AKQA - out of Germany, US and UK. Engaging with people, inspiring diverse teams and unleash their potential, drive more thought, more creativity, more ideas than what is perceived possible, is what has always motivated me. It is incredibly satisfying to see individuals eyes shine, when there is belief and imagination is bringing ideas to life. The biggest lesson I have so far learned is to know: Only you are responsible for what you can achieve and make happen in this world. Next to currently establishing my own company, I sit on the board of the GWA (gwa.de - German Association of Communications Agencies), leading efforts in bringing junior talent into the communications and media industry.
