Libertarian VP nominee to make campaign stops in Illinois

SPRINGFIELD -- Libertarian vice presidential nominee Jeremy "Spike" Cohen will be in Illinois beginning Sunday in preparation for a campaign blitz in the state.
Cohen will be in Springfield Monday as he and running mate Jo Jorgensen file their paperwork for the November 3 election. Additionally, there will be Congressional and state legislative candidates filing their candidate packets that day as well. The expected time of filing should be around 11 a.m. A press conference on the Illinois State Capitol grounds will follow at 1 p.m. as a result.
Cohen is on the speaker roster for the press conference, which includes U.S. Senate nominee Danny Malouf and Congressional candidate William Redpath.
Libertarian Filing Day festivities in Peoria
Cohen will then appear during a meet-and-greet event in Peoria at Mack's, currently scheduled for 5 p.m. This event is hosted by the Libertarian Party of Greater Peoria to celebrate the petition turn-ins earlier in the day.
LPGP chair and state vice-chair Donny Henry states that the candidates have worked hard to gather their signatures. There is a one-week window to determine who will make the ballot in November as a result, which will end at 5 p.m. on July 27.
"Monday morning, we will turn in petitions in Springfield from Libertarian candidates across the state. Peoria alone has nine candidates running for local office.
