The two teams will now face each other in the bronze medal match of the Men’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2021. Both the teams lost the semi finals against their very worthy opponents. India lost to Japan in a 5-3 match, while Pakistan lost to South Korea in an extremely close 6-5 encounter. 
In their respective matches both the losing teams entered really strong as they had won the last of their respective round robin matches. India has thrashed Japan in the last round robin with a 6-0 victory. However Japan came back strong in the match that has taken them to the finals and will compete against Korea for the title. The match was more than interesting.
