Re:Produktion is a fictional audio series in 10 episodes about long-distance friendship, depression, and women's reproductive choices. The radio play is told solely through voice messages that the two protagonists, Leonie and Hannah, send each other.
Two best friends live in different time zones, one in NYC, and the other one in Germany. Despite the distance, they struggle with similar issues surrounding motherhood and identity. With voice messages, they stay close and try to deal with difficult decisions and the challenge of doing what is right for them. Leonie has been living in New York for a few years and works in marketing, Hannah works in a call center in Berlin and is trying to build up her music career. Then Leonie suddenly becomes pregnant and Hannah's life is turned upside down as well after a diagnosis.
The radio play Re:Production plays with the asynchronous ping-pong dialogue of the protagonists and the different levels of their knowledge and the privileged knowledge of the listeners. Messages get deleted, interrupted, or overlooked. The listener becomes a confidant and co-thinker between the sentences and messages and witnesses an intimate conversation.
