Around 150 events, more than 90 stages all over the city: During the sixth Month of Contemporary Music, Berlin's Free Scene once again proved its incomparable diversity. We consider ourselves fortunate to have been able to present what is probably the largest edition of the decentralised festival to date and to accompany it with our own formats. Among them was the series KISSA, in which twelve of Berlin's numerous labels for experimental, electronic and otherwise adventurous music played all the gems and overlooked pearls from their catalogue to an attentive audience.
With their releases, they enrich the city's scene and represent it just as much on an international level with impressive rigour. While we rushed from one event to the next, they and their colleagues from all over the world continued to put out many new releases, more than usual even. So before we put a third layer of blister plasters on our sore feet and put them up for a while, we'd like to pass them on to you with this extended edition of our Releases of the Month. After all, shared music is the best.
There's also something to read, of course, and it's not just the book selection in this column that makes sure of that: we're already hard at work on the next issue of field notes for the months of November and December. With so much going on in Berlin's Free Scene, it's impossible to take a break. But we wouldn't have it any other way. In the meanwhile, we would like to thank all the organisers, artists and of course the audience for a fantastic Month.
