Anna Sorokin is in the news these days because of the Netflix series based on her life named Inventing Anna.

Anna was convicted in the New York Supreme Court in New York City. She was convicted for multiple counts of attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and also the theft of services in year 2019.

Anna Vadimovna Sorokin hails from Domodedovo, Moscow Oblast, Soviet Union. She is a professional German convicted con artist and also a fraudster. Between years 2013 and 2017 she was pretended to be a wealthy heiress under the name Anna Delvey. In the year 2017, Anna was arrested after allegedly defrauding banks, hotels, and acquaintances in the United States for a total of 275,000 dollars.

In the year 2018, after an article stated by Jessica Pressler on Anna Sorokin was published in New York, Netflix paid Sorokina 320,000 dollars for the rights to her life story. Moreover, the New York Attorney General's office sued Anna Sorokina in the year 2019 using the state's Son of Sam law. This law prohibits those convicted of a crime from profiting from its publicity and forced the majority of these funds to be are used in paying restitution and penalties per judgment.

Anna Vadinmovna Sorokin was arrested on October 3 in 2017 in a sting operation planned by Michael McCaffrey. Michael McCaffrey is a police officer with the New York Police Department working with the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

Anna was arrested in 2018 and found guilty in 2019 for posing as a German heiress and swindling banks, hotels and many individuals out of $200,000.

Sorokin was released on parole early for good behavior after serving three years of her sentence. Six weeks after Sorokin was released from the Albion Correctional Facility on parole in February 2021, she found herself in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa in the country.

She tested positive for COVID-19 in January and has been in quarantine isolation in the Orange Country Correctional Facility.
