With his firing announced in mid-October, LSU Tigers Ed Oregeron revealed that he wouldn't be in charge of the side's Bowl game. Ensuing hsis side's 27-24 win over No.15 Texas A&M in College Stadium, Coach O revealed that he would not be taking over the side's bowl game with him heading to Destin with his girlfriend instead.

“I told the guys I wish them luck. I’m not gonna sit here and coach when there’s another guy coming in to be the head coach this week or the week after that. I’m not gonna do that," Oregeron said.

“This is my team and as soon as they got a new head coach, I was gonna go," he continued.

Notre Dame's Brian Kelly will meanwhile be the new man at the helm of LSU Tigers. Ed's reign at Baton Rouge saw him one SEC championship (2019), one College Football Playoff national championship (2019), a 51-20 record and 20-12 record against top 25 teams.

Notre Dame finished the 2021 regular season with an 11-1 record. This was Kelly's seventh season with 10 or more wins with him being brought on board LSU on a 10 year deal which is worth staggering $95 million. The stakes for him are already high with the side's previous three coaches having all won national titles.
