What's On TV? - Wednesday (10/16/19) - Jessica Biel Is Back With "Limetown"

Wednesdays are shaping up to be a night where there is something for everyone.  From NBC's "Chicago" trifecta (Chicago Med, Fire and P.D.) to "Riverdale," to "Modern Family" viewers can have their choice of a gritty drama, a family sitcom, or a teen drama. Tonight the list of choices get bigger as "Limetown" premieres on Facebook Watch.

Pick of the Day
"Limetown" (Facebook Watch) at 3:00 p.m. ET

Two years ago, Jessica Biel came back to television on "The Sinner" after a decade away. Now it seems Biel has found her stride in TV as she stars in "Limetown." A new show on a new streaming service and based on a popular podcast, you could say the stakes for this show to succeed are rather high as Facebook Watch tries to make its mark in TV.  "Limetown" follows a tough NPR reporter, Lia Haddock, (Biel) who searches for the truth after 326 people vanish from the small town of Limetown, Tennessee. 15 years after the incident, Haddock is still trying to find out what happened which results in Haddock finding not only herself in extreme danger, but those she loves as well.  A Toronto International Film Festival Official Selection, "Limetown" asks the question "how far will you go to get to the truth?"
Movies on TV
"The American President (SHO2e) at 10:00 p.m. ET

Quite possibly Aaron Sorkin's most forgotten film, "The American President" is the story of a widowed President who attempts to navigate the waters of dating as the leader of the free world. An environmental lobbyist, Sydney Ellen Wade, (Annette Benning) meets President Andrew Sherpherd (Michael Douglas) when she tries to persuade the President to pass legislature minimizing carbon dioxide emissions. On the opposite sides of politics, they navigate the waters of being such a high profile couple and complications both their jobs pose to their relationship. This film is a cozy 90's romantic comedy that is charming in every way. While writer/director Aaron Sorkin usually sticks to making biopics, Sorkin has said he wishes to write more rom-coms and that "The American President" is one of his favorite films he's written.
