In January 2012 author James X. Morris traveled to New Hampshire to
document the behind-the-scenes chaos of the New Hampshire Primary that
often goes overlooked by the media. Initially intending to capture the
political sideshows he experienced as a student in the state in 2008,
Morris uncovers the human side of the primary and what the institution
is at its core. His trip took him barnstorming across the state
following candidates, meeting voters, and fighting for survival against
the hordes of media. "Primaryland" is a collection of first-hand stories
of the unofficial side of the 2012 Republican presidential primary
contest. Written as a first-hand account, and interspersed with
anecdotes and interviews, this travel narrative provides a cultural
cross-section of one of the more entertaining elements of contemporary
American political life.
