Jeremy Love: Alien: Covenant, Pirates of the Caribbean, Freelance Concept Artist

Jeremy was born in Hamilton, New Zealand but lived mostly in Tauranga. He had always hoped to become a book illustrator, but it seemed quite unattainable with next to no formal training. The internet hadn’t been invented yet, and living in New Zealand was somewhat remote. So, he moved to Australia’s Sunshine Coast at the age of 19, where he spent the next 6 years as a commercial artist.

It wasn’t until 2003 whilst living in the UK, that he became aware of Concept Art as a possible career path. Thanks to artists like Ryan Church, Feng Zhu and Marc Taro Holmes, new opportunities had been realized. Up until that point, the plan had been to eventually set up a custom air-brush shop beside the beach. Jeremy was proficient in many traditional and digital mediums, however he had never held a stylus pen or painted digitally.

After two years, and many many late nights learning digital painting techniques in Corel Painter 6, he was barely good enough to get paying work. Another year of working as a freelancer had given his portfolio enough appeal to attract a full time position at Krome Studios, Brisbane. Here spawned a career which lead him to work in both film and games, for some of the most reputable studios in the business. Jeremy currently works from his home studio in Brisbane as a freelance concept artist.

At the age of 19 Jeremy moved to Australia were he began his career into illustration. After a few years freelancing Jeremy Love found a full time job in the gaming industry.

For the next 5 years he worked as a senior concept artist at Krome Studios in Brisbane where Jeremy was able to contribute to some great titles. he’s also had the opportunity to work in Film including the third Narnia Chronicle Up, and then on some Video game companies, Jeremy has worked at THQ and Sega Studios Australia.

Since then Jeremy works as a Freelancer and has worked on many Film projects, including Alien: Covenant,  Pirates of the Caribbean, Gods of Egypt and many more.
