Trump Solution To Opioid Crisis Just Got Real
The White House intends to release a death penalty plan next week to curb America’s opioid crisis:

The Trump administration is finalizing a long-awaited plan that it says will solve the opioid crisis, but it also calls for law enforcement measures — like the death penalty for some drug dealers — that public health advocates and congressional Republicans warn will detract from efforts to reverse the epidemic. …

Trump’s plan to use the death penalty in some cases found at least one fan among congressional Republicans: Rep. Chris Collins of New York, one of the president’s most consistent cheerleaders. “I’m all in on the capital punishment side for those offenses that would warrant that,” he said when asked about the plans Thursday afternoon. “Including drug cases. Yep.”

But as with everything in the swamp there is a catch. Susan Wright of RedState noted that the death penalty would only apply “in any situation where a drug deal can be seen as directly responsible for a death,” such as, presumably, if it involves “either a shootout or an overdose.”
Even If It Doesn't Pass
Just the thought of death by either electrocution, firing squad or whatever else, will have drug dealing pushers running for the hills. Of course, the big boys won't worry about it, since they never get their hands dirty. But those little POS drug pushers will think long and hard if those $10 bags they are selling is worth the cost.

Robert Verbruggen of National Review pointed out that Trump’s plan “would be vulnerable to a constitutional challenge.”

“Rightly or wrongly, current Supreme Court precedent strictly limits the death penalty to the worst cases and bars ‘excessive’ punishment; one case a decade ago even forbade it in the case of child rape,” 

This is a fair point, but Justice Anthony Kennedy, who delivered court’s opinion in that ruling, may soon retire and be replaced by an even more conservative justice. With that switch in ideology, it may be enough to change the overall vote.
A President With Cojones
No matter what happens going forward, at least Trump, unlike Obama, is showing he will make the tough decisions. Obama pandered and commuted hundreds of drug dealer sentences. Some of those he pardoned would have been facing the death penalty if Trump's plan actually passes.

Right or wrong at least we have a President whose, not a spineless jellyfish. Trump, even if whatever he puts forth, has little chance of passing, he has shown that he will throw it into the ring because he feels it's the right thing to do, and not because the Deep State wants to pander for votes.
