Trump Tax Bill Essentially Repeals Obamacare Too
Passing the Trump Tax Plan also repealed the individual mandate, which essentially ends Obamacare. Yes, the mandate is just one part of Obamacare, but it's one of the biggest parts of the disastrous bill.
Back in 2012 when Obamacare headed to the supreme court. If the supreme court ruled the mandate and the Medicaid expansion, unconstitutional. Obamacare would have died that day. That’s the guts of the policy, Anthony Kennedy argued in dissent. Tear those two things out, as he, Scalia, Alito, and Thomas were prepared to do, and the whole thing dies. Unfortunately, Judge Roberts gave it a thumbs up and the Obamacare soap opera hasn't stopped since.
It's Dead, But It's Not Dead
Obamacare is still technically on the books, but without young people being forced to buy health insurance Obamacare will just limp along, eventually, it will wither away and finally die. Now the only question when?
During the Trump Tax cut debate, the Democrats and their fake news media cohorts claimed that "Trump's Tax Give-a-way will kick 13-million people off of Obamacare" that was a blatant lie. The CBO concluded that since, mostly young kids, would no longer be required to buy health insurance, the CBO estimated that 13-million people will freely drop their insurance. That is a huge difference from what the lying liberals tried to peddle the American people.
Those missing payments will be the final nail in the Obamacare coffin. The one sticking point is what happens to all the people on Obamacare if it suddenly dies in the summer or fall of 2018? Since 2018 is a mid-term election year, neither party wants to see millions of people suddenly lose their insurance because they won't know who the public will blame?
Without solid evidence on which party will take the hit for Obamacare's sudden demise, the Democrats and Republicans may finally have some incentive to work together. The two parties could come back after the winter break and attempt to fix Obamacare, create a new TrumpCare plan or worse case just shore up Obamacare enough to get it through 2018 and then deal with it after the fall elections.
So when President Trump said that killing the mandate means killing ObamaCare, he more right than wrong.
