WATCH: 'The Sisters Brothers' Take On a Job in First Official Trailer

Annapurna Pictures has released the official trailer for "The Sisters Brothers."

The film is based on the novel by Patrick Dewitt. It is the story of Eli and Charlie Sisters. They are two brothers in 1851 Oregon who take on a job to kill a prospector who stole from their boss. It is being described as a dark comedy.

John C. Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix star as Eli and Charlie. Jake Gyllenhaal, Riz Ahmed, Rutger Hauer, and Carol Kane also star.

Reilly was nominated for an Academy Award for his supporting role in "Chicago" in 2002. He has starred in many acclaimed films over the years. Some of his more widely known credits include "Days of Thunder," "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?," "Boogie Nights," "Never Been Kissed," "Magnolia," "Step Brothers," and "Wreck-It Ralph."

Phoenix is a three-time Oscar nominee with acclaimed performances in "Gladiator," "Walk the Line," and "The Master." He has also starred in popular films like "Her," "The Village" and "Signs." Phoenix started his career as a child actor, working under the name "Leaf," and appearing in films like "Space Camp" and "Parenthood."

Jake Gyllenhaal is an Oscar nominee, having starred in "Brokeback Mountain" with Heath Ledger. He is also the star of the films "Nightcrawler," "Prisoners," and "Nocturnal Animals." Earlier this week, he confirmed he will star as a villain in the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel next year.

Riz Ahmed reunites with his "Nightcrawler" co-star. Ahmed was one of the tenacious rebels in "Rogue One" in 2016, and scored a Golden Globe nomination for the HBO limited series "The Night Of."

Rutger Hauer is probably still best known or his role in the 1982 epic, "Blade Runner," but he has starred in scores of films and television series. He has four projects already completed for this year, and six more in various stages of production. Carol Kane, likewise, the beloved star of stage and screen, has nearly 150 film and television credits to her name. She appeared in films like "The Princess Bride," "Scrooged," and "The Addams Family,"and its sequel. Kane currently stars on the Netflix series "The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."

Jacques Audiard adapted and directs "The Sisters Brothers." The french director earned acclaim for films such as the Palme d'Or winner "Dheepan," as well as "Un Prophet" and "Rust and Bone."

The film doesn't have a release date set yet, but it will be in theaters this fall.
