Mackenzie Davis Set to Star in 'Terminator' Reboot

Mackenzie Davis is heading to the "Terminator" reboot, according to an exclusive report from Variety.
While exact plot details are still unknown, Variety's report says that Davis will play a terminator much like Schwarzeneggar's role in the first film. Franchise creator James Cameron has de-canonized everything that came after his 1991 hit, "Terminator 2." This will be a direct sequel to that film.
Speaking of which, Arnold Schwarzeneggar and Linda Hamilton previously announced they will be returning to the franchise.
Davis has worked in film and television for several years. She spent three seasons on the AMC series "Halt and Catch Fire." She also stars in the upcoming Jason Reitman/Diablo Cody film, "Tully" with Charlize Theron. She garnered a lot of attention last year in "Blade Runner 2049" and is currently filming a modern take on the "The Turn of the Screw," simply titled "The Turning."
Linda Hamilton has also appeared in film and television for many years. But it was her iconic role of Sarah Connor that she has never been able to escape. She has not appeared in the franchise since the second film. The three-time Golden Globe nominee is currently working on the comedy adventure film, "Easy Does It."
Schwarzeneggar is the only principal to have appeared in every installment of the "Terminator" films. For the new film, he will reprise his role as the titular Terminator. While he took time off several years ago to explore a brief stint in politics, he is once again very active in the film industry, with seven films currently in various stages of development.
James Cameron will serve as Executive Producer on the new film, but he will not direct. He is hard at work on the five "Avatar" sequels. Instead, he hands the directing reigns over to Tim Miller, who won over many Marvel fans in 2016 with his raunchy, comedic version of "Deadpool."
The as-yet-untitled "Terminator" film will be in theaters July 26, 2019.
