Visual Effect Society Announces 16th Annual VES Awards, 'War for the Planet of the Apes' is Top Feature Film

The Visual Effects Society held its 16th Annual VES Awards on Tuesday night. Comedian Patton Oswalt hosted the ceremony in Beverly Hills for the seventh time.

In addition to four wins for Academy Award nominee, "War for the Planet of the Apes," Disney/Pixar's latest animated creation, "Coco" also took home four awards. "Game of Thrones" was the most awarded production of the night, winning five prizes.

It was previously announced that writer/director/actor Jon Favreau would be presented VES Lifetime Achievement Award. Marvel Studios President and Executive Producer Kevin Feige made the presentation. The Georges Méliès Award was presented to visual effects pioneer Joe Letteri ("War for the Planet of the Apes").
