Chris Rock has returned to stand-up. The comedian and actor just dropped his new comedy special, "Tamborine," on Netflix, giving fans less than 24 hours notice about the premiere.

News of the special hit Tuesday morning, with Rock tweeting out the above teaser trailer announcing his return to stand-up; his last special, "Kill the Messenger," premiered on HBO in 2008. "Tamborine" is the first of two specials Rock is releasing on Netflix, an overall $40 million deal inked in 2016, according to Variety. The special is directed by Bo Burnham and filmed at New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).  The "Tamborine" trailer opens on the back of Rock's head, with a voiceover telling the audience what he's been up to the past few years. We then see a montage of highlights from the special, where Rock takes on issues about race, relationships, politics and raising black children in the hellscape of 2018.

Though Rock hasn't performed a stand-up special in a decade, he has still been working in the comedy world. The comedian directed Amy Schumer's HBO stand-up special at the Apollo in 2015, along with executive producing the documentary "Eat Drink Laugh: The Story of the Comic Strip" in 2014. He's most recently been working on the TV series "The Rundown with Robin Thede," which he also executive produces. Rock has earned four Emmys and two Grammys during his career for various comedy specials, comedy albums and his 1990s series "The Chris Rock Show." He's best known for his his four year stint on "Saturday Night Live" and his scripted sitcom "Everybody Hates Chris," which ran from 2005-2009.
