WATCH: Netflix's 'Black Mirror' Releases Official Season 4 Trailer, Premiere Date Set for Dec. 29

"Black Mirror" is heading back to Netflix sooner than anticipated. The streaming platform released a full trailer for the horror anthology's fourth season, which included a premiere date of Dec. 29 in its description and clips from each highly anticipated episode. According to Variety, the series will return just in time for the awards cycle and could expect more Emmy nods this year; "Black Mirror" won two Emmys for best television movie and television movie writing in 2017.

Netflix has been teasing "Black Mirror's" return for the past month, releasing teaser trailers for the six episodes of Season 4. Each episode has a distinctly different tone and setting, ranging from Star Trek spoof "USS Callister," to the "TiMER"-esque episode "Hang the DJ." The series may be branching out this season, but creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones assured "Black Mirror" fans that the show still plays within a technological dystopian world.

The upcoming season also boasts directing from Jodie Foster ("Silence of the Lambs"), who helmed the episode "Arkangel," and features Rosemarie DeWitt ("La La Land") and Brenna Harding. The other actors starring this season are Andrea Riseborough ("Birdman"), Andrew Gower ("Outlander") and Kiran Sonia Sawar ("Murdered by My Father") in the "Crocodile" episode; Georgina Campbell ("Broadchurch"), Joe Cole ("Peaky Blinders") and George Blagden ("Versailles") in "Hang the DJ"; Maxine Peake ("The Theory of Everything"), Jake Davies ("A Brilliant Young Mind") and Clint Dyer ("Sus") in "Metalhead"; Douglas Hodge ("The Night Manager"), Letitia Wright ("Black Panther"), Babs Olusanmokun ("Roots") and Aldis Hodge ("Straight Outta Compton") in "Black Museum"; and Jesse Plemons ("Black Mass"), Cristin Milioti ("How I Met Your Mother"), Jimmi Simpson ("Westworld") and Michaela Coel ("Chewing Gum") in "USS Callister."
