Danny Masterson Fired From Netflix's 'The Ranch' After Rape Allegations

Danny Masterson ("That '70s Show") is out of "The Ranch" for good. Netflix has fired the actor after multiple allegations of rape resurfaced against Masterson, saying:
As a result of ongoing discussions, Netflix and the producers have written Danny Masterson out of The Ranch. Yesterday was his last day on the show, and production will resume in early 2018 without him.
According to Deadline, production is wrapping up on the first 10 episodes of the show's 20 episode third season, with one episode left to finish; the rest of Season 3 will be shot after the holidays. The second half of Season 2 is set to premiere in a week and a half on Netflix.
The news comes conspicuously later than Kevin Spacey's firing from Netflix's "House of Cards," which happened almost immediately after news of his sexual misconduct broke. The Huffington Post recently revealed further details about the four accusers, with at least three of them being fellow members of the Church of Scientology. The Church covered up at least one rape, submitting 50 affadavits denying the rape occurred when one woman filed a police report in 2003. That case seems to be finally moving forward, according to the Huffington Post's report. An unnamed Netflix executive also told one of Masterson's accusers "we don't believe you," which the streaming platform quickly apologized for.
Masterson has released a statement about his firing, saying:
I am obviously very disappointed in Netflix’s decision to write my character off of The Ranch. From day one, I have denied the outrageous allegations against me. I have never been charged with a crime, let alone convicted of one. In this country, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, in the current political climate, it seems as if you are presumed guilty the moment you are accused. I understand and look forward to clearing my name once and for all.
There's been no word yet on if Masterson will continue to produce the series alongside costar Ashton Kutcher ("Two and a Half Men") and co-creators Jim Patterson and Don Reo ("Two and a Half Men"). "The Ranch" follows the son of a Colorado rancher (Kutcher), who returns home after his semi-pro football career ends. Sam Elliott ("Grace and Frankie") and Debra Winger ("In Treatment") star as Kutcher and Masterson's parents; Masterson plays Kutcher's brother. The pair previously starred together on the hit teen comedy series "That '70s Show" in the early 2000s.
"The Ranch" returns to Netflix with its second half of its third season Dec. 15.
