Focus Features released the official trailer for their upcoming film, "Thoroughbreds."

Anya Taylor-Joy and Olivia Cooke star as two childhood friends, Lily and Amanda, who were separated when one moved away. Newly reunited, the pair has a hard time picking up where they left off. Eventually, they start to bond over Lily's contempt for her stepfather, a bond that leads them down a dangerous path.

Anya Taylor-Joy had a breakthrough year in 2016, starring in the divisive supernatural drama, "The Witch." She also starred opposite James McAvoy in M. Night Shyamalan's surprise hit, "Split." She will reprise her role from that film in the sequel, "Glass" in 2019.

Olivia Cooke has been working non-stop since her debut in the A&E series "Bates Motel." From there, she starred in the horror film "Ouija," and the drama "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl." Next year, she will appear in Steven Spielberg's "Ready Player One."

Anton Yelchin also stars in the film as a local hustler. Yelchin had several projects in post-production when he died unexpectedly in 2016. This is his final film.

"Thoroughbreds" is the theatrical debut for writer/director Cory Finley. When it premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January, it was lauded as something in between "Heathers" and "Cruel Intentions."

Since Sundance, the film has screened at several additional festivals including Fantastic Fest, London Film Festival, and, most recently, AFI Fest.

"Thoroughbreds" will be in theaters March 9, 2018.
