A new look at Michael Gracey's ("The Magician") P.T. Barnum biopic turned musical, "The Greatest Showman," is here! Starring Hugh Jackman ("Logan"), Michelle Williams ("Manchester by the Sea"), Rebecca Ferguson ("The Girl on the Train"), Zac Efron ("Neighbors"), Zendaya ("Spider-Man: Homecoming") and more, the film invites its Christmas audience to celebrate one of America's most famous showmen.

"The Greatest Showman" follows Barnum (Jackman) and his rise to stardom with his circus troupe the Barnum & Bailey Circus. The road to fame is rocky for the family man, but with wife Charity (Williams) at his side and a winning smile, Barnum seeks to make The Greatest Show on Earth with the help of wonderful but outcast performers. The film is an original musical written by Bill Condon ("Dreamgirls") and Jenny Bicks ("Sex and the City") with lyrics from Oscar winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul ("La La Land"). Laurence Mark ("When We Rise"), Peter Chernin ("War of the Planet of the Apes") and Jenno Topping ("Hidden Figures") produce.

Jackman's last movie musical, “Les Misérables,” was a smash hit but had the benefit of being an established, well-loved theatrical musical with a built-in audience. In comparison, "The Greatest Showman" is a high-stakes risk for 20th Century Fox, as the original musical period piece will premiere at the height of the holiday season, meeting the deadline for awards season.

But, as the NY Times points out, the studio has stacked the deck with vocal and critically acclaimed talent, as Efron's a "High School Musical" alum and Zendaya has her own musical career. Williams isn't known for her voice, but she's snagged four Oscar nominations for her roles in "Manchester by the Sea," "My Week with Marilyn," "Blue Valentine" and "Brokeback Mountain." Ferguson adds another boost to "The Greatest Showman's" roster, previously starring in the likes of "Life," "The Girl on the Train" and "Florence Foster Jenkins."

"The Greatest Showman" hits theaters Dec. 20. Watch the new trailer below.
