WATCH: Will Smith and Joel Edgerton Join Forces in New Trailer for 'Bright'

Netflix released a new trailer for its upcoming original film, "Bright."
The official synopsis reads:
"Set in an alternate present-day, this action-thriller directed by David Ayer ("Suicide Squad," "End of Watch," writer of "Training Day") follows two cops from very different backgrounds (Ward, a human played by Will Smith, and Jakoby, an orc played by Joel Edgerton) who embark on a routine patrol night that will ultimately alter the future as their world knows it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which in the wrong hands could destroy everything."
Will Smith first earned his fame as the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, starring on the popular TV series of the same name. He later transitioned to the big screen with such box office gold as "Bad Boys," "Independence Day," and "Men in Black." He has been nominated for two Academy Awards for his performances in "Ali" and "The Pursuit of Happyness."
Joel Edgerton appeared in a number of television series and movies in his native Australia before moving to American films. He has appeared in a number of high profile films including "The Great Gatsby," "The Gift," and "It Comes at Night." He received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in last year's "Loving."
"Bright" also stars Noomi Rapace ("Prometheus"), Lucy Fry ("11.22.63"), Edgar Ramirez ("The Girl on the Train"), Ike Barinholtz ("Suicide Squard"), Enrique Murciano ("Bloodline"), Jay Hernandez ("Suicide Squad"), Andrea Navedo ("Jane the Virgin"), and Veronica Ngo ("Star Wars: The Last Jedi").
Max Landis wrote the screenplay. He also wrote "American Ultra" and "Victor Frankenstein," and created the series "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency."
"Bright" will be released in select theaters and on Netflix December 22.
