WATCH: Trailer for 'Goodbye Christopher Robin' with Margot Robbie, Domhnall Gleeson

"Goodbye Christopher Robin" looks like a heartfelt celebration of recovery and childhood, along with a warning against the perils of fame. The film follows author A. A. Milne, the real-life author and playwright who struggled with PTSD after returning home from WWI. However, his little boy, Christopher Robin, and his happy, imaginative view of the world sparks inspiration for one of the most beloved children's book characters of the 20th century. But not all is well when fame comes knocking, and the young family struggles to balance success with the privacy needed for a normal childhood.

The film stars Domhnall Gleeson ("The Revenant") and Will Tilston as the father and son, with Margot Robbie ("Suicide Squad") playing Milne's loving wife and Kelly Macdonald ("Brave") playing Christopher's nanny. "Goodbye Christopher Robin" was written by Frank Cottrell Boyce ("The Railway Man") and Simon Vaughan ("War & Peace"), with Simon Curtis directing.

The real life relationship between Christopher Robin (who wrote under the name C. R. Milne) and his father A. A. was strained later on in life due to the stress of fame from such a young age. The world loved the happy books and desperately need them after the events of WWI, but they overshadowed A. A. Milne's other books, which he thought were better, according to the BBC. The trailer does seem to foreshadow some sadness for C. R. after Winnie-the-Pooh became popular, but doesn't get into the specifics of C.R.'s adulthood. We'll just have to wait and see if the film leaves us in tears, lifts our hearts, or a combination of the two.
