'Patti Cake$' Star Danielle Macdonald Cast as Lead in 'White Girl Problems'

Following up a breakthrough starring role in "Patti Cake$," Danielle Macdonald will star in the comedy "White Girl Problems," according to Deadline.
"White Girl Problems" is the memoir from blogger and Twitter star Babe Walker. With an expensive shopping habit, Walker found herself rebuilding her life after a stint in shopping rehab. Macdonald will play the leading role. Her co-stars have not yet been announced.
Prior to her role in "Patti Cake$," Macdonald appeared in a number of television series, including "Glee," "Pretty Little Liars," and "American Horror Story." She will also appear in the upcoming films "Extracurricular Activities" and "Lady Bird."
"White Girl Problems" will be directed by Lauren Palmigiano. This is her feature film debut. Palmigiano has built up a solid filmography of writing and producing short films for Funny or Die.
The film rights were acquired in 2013 by producers Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman. The pair have produced all three "Pitch Perfect" films. Banks is also well known in front of the camera where she has earned three Primetime Emmy nominations for guest acting.
The screenplay for "White Girl Problems" was written by Alisha Brophy and Scott Miles. This is the first feature film for Brophy. Miles also wrote the script for the 2001 b-movie "Dead Flesh."
The film will be produced and distributed by Lionsgate.
The studio has not yet announced when the film will go into production or when it will be released.
