No life without water

Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ): Water and climate are inextricably linked. The increasing number and intensity of droughts, floods, and heavy rainfall show that the climate crisis is equally a water crisis. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) understands water as a central element in advancing climate change adaptation and mitigation goals. Together with our partners in Bolivia, Zambia, Jordan, and Indonesia, our solution approaches successfully show how we can think and implement the sustainable development goals SDG 6 ("Clean water and sanitation") and SDG 13 ("Climate action") together. And beyond: as an intersectoral cross-cutting issue, water is also a relevant factor in achieving food and energy security (SDG 2, SDG 7), protecting biodiversity (SDG 14, SDG 15), increasing resilience in rural and urban areas (SDG 11), and ensuring health and well-being for all (SDG3).
