What Are The Benefits Of The Double Uterus?
What is Double Uterus? Why Does It Happen?
Uterus formation begins in female babies while still in the womb. The first stage of the development of the uterus is the formation of ovarian tubes. Then comes the union of the tubes so that the uterus takes its full shape. However, in some babies, these tubes cannot merge normally. As a result, a double uterus is formed instead of a single uterus. This condition is called double uterus.
What is Double Womb?
When the girl embryo falls into the womb of the mother, the development of the uterus begins with the formation of the ovarian tubes first. With the growth and development of the baby girl in the womb, these tubes merge over time, thereby forming the uterus. A healthy uterus development proceeds with the joining of the tubes, resulting in a single uterus. However, in some of the baby girls, it is observed that these tubes do not combine properly. This causes double uterus formation instead of single. It is also called “duplex uterus”. The uterus being double is not a common problem, it is seen very rarely. So much so that sometimes it is not even diagnosed. The incidence of this problem in normal pregnancies is between 2% and 4%.
Does Double Womb Cause Infertility?
Double uterus usually does not cause a problem with sexuality, pregnancy and childbirth. However, it is also known to cause low and infertility formation, although it is rare. Sometimes it can lead to an improper position of the baby in the womb or to premature birth.
What are the symptoms of dual uterus?
Some women with a double womb do not even realize that they have experienced such a thing. So much so that they cannot even notice during pregnancy and childbirth. There are some symptoms of double uterine disorder;
Menstrual period becomes irregular.
Edema and fullness begin to be felt in the abdominal region.
A severe pain begins before menstruation and continues throughout menstruation.
Menstrual bleeding is very intense.
A mass is felt in the abdominal area.
Abnormal pain occurs before and during menstruation.
There is a lot of bleeding in menstrual period.
Does Double Uterus Need Treatment?
If you are a double uterus but this does not cause any symptoms and cause any complaints, there is usually no need for treatment. The two uterus can be combined with surgery, but this is a rare procedure. If you are pregnant, you should get information from your doctor about possible problems you may experience. In this regard, your doctor will make important recommendations about preventing preterm labor and normal delivery.
If a woman diagnosed with double uterus does not have any symptoms or other health problems, double uterus operation is not common. The double uterus does not affect any condition other than pregnancy and does not cause critical discomfort. Therefore, joining of the double uterus is not a frequently performed procedure, it is preferred only when necessary.
What Risks Are There In The Pregnancy Of Women With Bilateral Uterus?
A woman with a double womb can also become pregnant normally. However, because the uterus is double, it is a kind of deformity, and the position of the baby in the womb can be abnormal. This can make birth difficult. In other words, women with double uterus are both smaller than they should be. Therefore, the baby may find it difficult to fit in the womb and be in an abnormal position.
If the embryo cannot fully hold into the uterus, miscarriage may occur.
If the baby is in an incorrect position in the womb, it will most likely lead to breech arrival.
If a woman with a double uterus has had several miscarriages consecutively, this may require uterine merger surgery. Sometimes such a method of treatment is applied to ensure a healthy outcome of subsequent pregnancies
