Turkish Defense Minister accuses Damascus of violating ceasefire agreement in Idlib
The Turkish Defense Minister on Friday accused the Syrian army of violating the ceasefire agreement with Russia for the province of Idlib, where are the latest rebel positions.
Russia is providing decisive military support to the forces loyal to Bashar al-Assad, while Turkey has sided with rebel groups, but Ankara and Moscow have agreed in September to avoid an assault in this area of northwestern countries where more than three million civilians live.
The Syrian army and the Russian air force launched an offensive in the region at the end of April, accusing the rebels of not respecting the Sochi agreement.
"The regime is not keeping its ceasefire promises and is violating the agreement," Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said in a statement posted on the internet, adding that military bidding could lead to tragedy humanitarian........
