Spain: Viggo Mortensen criticizes the Vox election posters

Actor Viggo Mortensen who plays the legendary knight Aragorn in the trilogy "The Lord of the Rings" denounced the use made of his character by the far-right party Vox during the campaign for the parliamentary elections in Spain.

Vox used during his campaign a representation of the knight brandishing a Spanish flag and the emblem of the party and charging against those whom the formation of extreme right considers as his enemies: the left parties, the feminists, the Catalan separatists and the liberal press.

"Let the battle begin! #For Spain", was the slogan used by Vox.

"You have to be ignorant enough to think it's a good idea to use this character to promote the campaign of a far-right xenophobic party like Vox," writes Viggo Mortensen in a letter to the daily El Pais........
