Former soldier arrested in preparation for California bombing

California authorities on Monday announced the arrest of a former US military man who was trying to organize a bomb attack near Los Angeles, he said, to avenge attacks on two mosques in New Zealand in March.

Mark Steven Domingo, 26, was apprehended on Friday after receiving what he thought was a bomb but was actually a dummy machine delivered by a police undercover, said Nick Hanna, federal prosecutor for Central California.

The suspect was denied bail after his first appearance Monday before a federal judge. He will appear again on May 31.

According to investigators of the Federal Police (FBI), this veteran who served in Afghanistan between 2012 and 2013 planned to detonate a bomb at a rally on the far right April 28 in Long Beach, south of Los Angeles.

This gathering was to bring together nationalists advocating the supremacy of the white race, at the call of a group called "National Front patriot united". But it did not happen......
