Trump denies that money was paid to free Otto Warmbier

Donald Trump said on Friday that the United States had not paid North Korea for the release of US student Otto Warmbier, who had been held for 17 months in a North Korean prison.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that Donald Trump had approved the payment to North Korea of two million dollars to pay for the treatment of the student imprisoned by the North Korean authorities.

Otto Warmbier died on June 19, 2017, six days after his return to the United States. The 22-year-old was repatriated while in a coma.

"No money has been paid to North Korea for Otto Warmbier, not two million dollars, nothing else," denied the US president on his Twitter account.........
