Sri Lanka: radical leader Zahran Hashim was one of the suicide bombers

Sri Lankan extremist Zahran Hashim, the key figure in jihadist attacks on Easter Sunday, was killed in the attack on one of Colombo's luxury hotels.

"What intelligence has told me is that Zahran was killed in the Shangri-La attack," Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena told reporters.

Zahran Hashim led the suicide attack on the capital's waterfront hotel with a second suicide bomber, identified as "Ilham," said the Sri Lankan head of state.

The jihadist leader appeared on a video published by the group Islamic State (IS), which claimed responsibility for the attacks that killed 253 people, where he was seen leading seven men in an oath of allegiance to the head of IS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.....
