Egypt: President Sissi 's new Constitution accepted by 88% of voters

As expected, the "yes" largely won the referendum to reshuffle the Egyptian Constitution, announced Tuesday, April 23 the National Elections Authority. President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi can now remain in power until 2030 and the army becomes the guarantor of the respect of the Constitution.

More than 26 million Egyptians, or 88% of the voters, said "yes" to the reworking of the Constitution.

The most important for power however is the turnout, 44% of the 61 million voters. That is better than the vote of the Constitution of 2014 - with a rate of 39% - and that of the Constitution of 2012 - with 41% participation......
