Sri Lankan Attacks : Muslims are fear reprisals.

Members of the Muslim community in Colombo fear reprisals after the Easter Sunday attacks that claimed more than 300 lives in Sri Lanka. With 21 million inhabitants, the country is predominantly Buddhist (70%) and has 10% of Muslims, the second largest minority after Hindus (12%). Christians living in Sri Lanka represent only 6% of the population.

Mohammed Hasan, a Muslim from Sri Lanka, has barely left his home since the jihadist attacks that killed nearly 360 people on the island on Easter Sunday for fear of reprisals.

Despite his outside job in a print shop, the 41-year-old Sri Lankan's family is begging him to stay in their home in Colombo, the capital of a shocked nation.

"They are worried that if I go out, will I come back alive?", He told AFP during a rare getaway to pray at the Jumma mosque in the Dematagoda neighborhood.

Kamikazes provoked carnage Sunday morning in three luxury hotels and three churches, during Easter Mass, in Colombo and elsewhere in the South Asian island. The attacks, perpetrated by the authorities by a local Islamist movement, were claimed by the jihadist group Islamic State (IS).....
