Nia Monae – I.C.Y Freestyle: The Lyrical Goddess Dominating the Female Rap Game

Whilst women are becoming more and more prominent in pretty much every genre of music, sadly female Rap artists still seem to be in short supply. Thankfully up and coming artist Nia Monae has stepped up to the plate and created a prodigally beautiful Hip Hop rap track that packs plenty of bounce into the ricocheting bars ran by the domineering artist. I commended that Nia kept true to some of the old school rap roots with her beats which were polished to perfection by producer JonDoeProductions. But what stood out the most for me was the lyricism and how relentlessly Nia could match the beat as I.C.Y Freestyle progressed. If you’re a fan of Missy Elliot, Ciara, Lil’ Kim, J.Cole or Eminem, I highly recommend you check out the prowess of the lyrical goddess who is Nia Monae.
