Showbiz can be brutal, and it sure hasn’t been an easy start for Ansley Burns.

When most seventh-graders are working on math and creative writing, Burns has tested herself on the America’s Got Talent stage.

The 12-year-old got burned by a dodgy backing track in her audition in June, so badly she was stopped by judge Simon Cowell. Burns recovered and impressed with a full-voiced cover of Aretha Franklin's 1968 hit "Think."

History repeated on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, when the bouncy school chorus singer from South Carolina got the stop sign from Cowell.

“Sorry, the track actually was overwhelming you like before,” Cowell said. “I don’t want to hear that pushing your vocal because it’s going off key a bit.”

Unfazed, the youngster hit an a capella version of Carrie Underwood’s "Good Girl.” And it hit all the right spots.

“You have just the most amazing personality,” Cowell said afterwards, admitting her performance was a leap ahead of her audition. “I think you’ve got something special about you. I really like you.”

Test passed.
