According to the new Gig Economy Index from Hyperwallet and PYMNTS.com there is an increasing reliance on marketplaces to find work; receiving real time customer leads is the main driver as 45 percent say they rely on marketplaces to do so; gig workers are starting to use less marketplaces but concentrating their time on 1 consistent marketplace; younger workers use marketplaces more often, in particular when you get down to 18 – 24 year olds without a regular job; PayPal is the primary source of payment with 51 percent saying PayPal was the primary way they were receiving payment; the index surveys more than 10,000 gig workers, using more than 500 data points.
