Hundreds of smartphone customers in India have woken up puzzled with a Distinctive Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) toll-free helpline quantity saved of their phonebooks by default.


UIDAI, which is but to problem an official assertion on this, has changed the sooner helpline quantity — 1800-300-1947 — with the brand new quantity — 1947, which obtained into individuals's phonebooks with out their consent.

Did not know that I had the UIDAI toll free quantity in my contacts. Apparently govt of India sneakily put it in our (sensible?) telephones, with out telling us. Not acceptable. We're certainly dwelling in Orwellian instances. Or Nilekani instances as my buddy @digitaldutta says. #Aadhar

There may be an entry of UIDAI in my cellphone with the quantity 1800-300-1947. I've not entered such quantity or saved it. How can a 3rd social gathering enter quantity in my cellphone with none consent. What is occurring @UIDAI ? Apparently that is Aadhar helpline quantity.
