First Ever Comedy Special from Arsenio Hall

Arsenio Hall is Back!

Comedy Dynamics announced today it will release Arsenio Hall’s first stand-up comedy special, which was filmed live at the San Jose Improv April 6, 2019. The special was directed by Brian Volk-Weiss and produced by Cisco Henson for Comedy Dynamics. It’s slated to be released in fall 2019. In case you're too young to know this man's brilliance or remember his work, Arsenio hosted The Arsenio Hall Show, which ran from 1989 to 1994. After he won Celebrity Apprentice in 2012, the syndicated talk show was revived for one season that aired from 2013 – 2014. He was recently a regular on the Tom Joyner Morning Show.
True Stand-up Comedy
First of all, it's hard to believe this brother has never filmed a special. For the past two decades Arsenio has taken a break from the stage, until now. Like most who love the craft Hall once again felt a hunger for writing jokes and finding the best way to present them to audiences. According to Arsenio, he missed the thrill of visiting a new a city every week. He longed for the challenge of sizing up a room and devising a set of comedy based on what he felt. While 'winging' a set doesn't work very long for most people, its been a recipe for success for Hall. Based on social media post and first-hand accounts of his performances, Arsenio Hall the stand-up comic is back, with avengance. Audiences from New York to L.A. have raved about his knack for making everyday life, funny. No gimmicks, no cliches, just comedy.

Coming To America
And because no story about Arsenio Hall is complete without referencing his arguably best role and world's funniest movie, we had to get official word on 'Coming to America II.' "YES" Arsenio emphatically answered. "It is happening. Kenya Barris just finished a second draft of 'Coming to America II.' I'm really happy with it, dog, because it's so hard to follow a movie like that. That's why we didn't do it for so long. Why we decided to leave it where it is. I love it, and Eddie (Murphy) loves it. It's funny, we don't need the makeup to play the old guys in the barbershop now. We waited too long. We can do just the barbershop, except those guys would be dead. But it's working out, and we should have a draft finished when it starts to get warm outside. Hoping to shoot that baby this year."

That's great news, we think. There's always reason to pause when such an iconic piece of pop-culture is re-made or sequalized (Ebonics at its finest), but Eddie is a legend, Arsenio is a legend, and Kenya Barris did a phenomenal job with 'Girls Trip' and 'Black-ish', so let's give them a chance. The flick should be funny, if not, there's always the eye candy that has become Allison Dean (Patrice McDowel). That sister has grown from fine to super-fine!

But back on task, Arsenio has a special coming soon and it deserves a look. He's a comedy OG and one of the realest brothers on planet earth.
