Major Truck Stop Chain Rewards Programs: TA/Petro UltraOne Rewards Program
by PD McCloud
In this second part of our 5-part series we'll examine one of the 4 largest truck stop driver reward programs, AMBEST, TA/Petro, Pilot/Flying J, and Loves Travel Stop. In the mean time, feel free to cast your vote on who you think has the best driver rewards program.
There are a lot of truck stops throughout the country and most have some sort of rewards program for drivers. Though all have their own perks and benefits, it's probably agreed that the four majors are the most successful in terms of overall fuel sales and store amenities for drivers. Like most of you, I also have a preferred truck stop that I frequent. However, for this series, I'm going to try to take myself out of the driver's seat and look at each as unbiased as I possibly can. In Part 5, we'll combine the information, the facts and the results of the poll to hopefully come to a conclusion as to which truck stop really does have the best drivers reward program.

Author Notes:
As a general rule, I've found that TA/Petro locations are generally .05-.06 cents per gallon higher in price for diesel fuel. That being said, TA/Petro was the first to implement paid and/or reserved parking spaces in their open lots. This may be of benefit to drivers who drive late into the night-time hours when free parking just isn't available. Other truck stop companies, such as Pilot/Flying J, have followed suit with their own version of "reserved parking".
In the rumor-mill, though not confirmed yet, it's being reported on Facebook that TA/Petro is doing away with the UltraOne cards and becoming cardless. According to information I've received, you'll have to go the kiosk, inside the store, to redeem points using only your phone number and pin. What I don't get yet is how you'll be credited points for fuel purchases without swiping a card at the pump. Again, this has not been confirmed.
What has been confirmed is that you no longer get points or credits for in store purchases. At present, you are only awarded UltraOne points now with qualified fuel and repair shop purchases.
In our next segment, we'll look at Pilot/Flying J's driver rewards program.
