I never believed in Óscar Pérez. It seemed a mystery to me, even sometimes, I considered it a piece of government game. Today Óscar and his companions are dead. They were massacred without mercy by the dictatorship. Now they call him a national hero, we feel guilty. More than a hero, Óscar and his companions are VICTIMS. Their corpses are added to the bunch of Venezuelans who have been killed by Chavez. NO ONE deserves to be killed for their ideals, whether or not we agree with them. For me, more than a symbol of hope, Óscar is the clear demonstration that the government has stripped us of our ability to believe in something. This whole situation makes me nauseous, of doubting even myself. What has this regime turned us into? Óscar Pérez will remain a mystery, Chavismo has silenced his voice. Rest in peace.
