Frankfurt evacuated 60,000 people to defuse a World War II bomb.
German authorities began operations on Saturday before evacuating thousands of people in Frankfurt (west), where a huge bomb from the Second World War will be deactivated.

Civil protection teams proceeded this Saturday to transfer to a clinic about a hundred patients and about twenty babies who were admitted to a hospital in Frankfurt within the area affected by the operation, the largest in modern history in Germany.
More than 70 years after the end of World War II, some 2,000 tons of unexploded bombs remain in Germany every year. Earlier this week, the deactivation of a bomb in Berlin forced to close Tegel airport for several hours.
