Email sent to Trumps included public WikiLeaks reference
WASHINGTON (AP)  An email sent to President Donald Trump and Donald Trump Jr. to the fore the 2016 election included a decryption key for hacked documents that the website WikiLeaks had already made public a hours of daylight earlier.

The email obtained by The Associated Press almost Friday disputes an earlier news credit by CNN that Trump and his eldest son had conventional the opinion in the back the hacked data had been made public. "We checked our records. Nobody ever responded. It was disregarded," Garten said.

The existence of the email was first reported by CNN as regards 8 a.m. Friday. CNN said the email was sent upon Sept. 4, to the lead the WikiLeaks reprieve, but the copy of the email obtained by AP shows it was sent 10 days progressive. In a tweet Friday afternoon, Trump Jr. chided CNN for not unexpectedly correcting its description. At 3:45 p.m., CNN corrected the defense.

Garten said the wrong date created a misleading narrative just roughly his client, suggesting that Trump Jr. was getting to the front entry to hacked material. "This undermines the credibility of their laboratory analysis," Garten said, calling committee leaks unscrupulous and reckless.

Alan Futerfas, a lawyer for Trump Jr., in addition to criticized the leaks and said that the email was never responded to. He said that was discussed in the penetration committee interview.

Futerfas characterized the broadcast as one of thousands that Trump Jr. and the whisk avowed "from individuals all beyond the world gone opinions, suggestions, ideas and commentary."

The peak Democrat upon the House insight committee said Friday his panel is looking into the email.

"That is a situation that is below investigation. We need to determine the truth of that and what were any measures that were taken in tribute to receiving that email, as competently as whether there's a relationship along as well as that and the added private communication that Don Jr. had bearing in mind WikiLeaks," California Rep. Adam Schiff said in an interview behind the AP.

Schiff with criticized the leaks. He would unaccompanied comment upon the parts of the CNN decree that had already been avowed by Trump Jr.'s lawyer.

Trump Jr. last month released a series of private Twitter exchanges surrounded by himself and WikiLeaks during and after the 2016 election, including pleas from the website to state its leaks.

The newly-discovered Sept. 14, 2016, email was sent from a Yahoo account and signed by a person named Michael Erickson. On Friday, the AP left a phone declaration at a number listed for Erickson and emailed the account. The messages weren't rapidly returned.

Garten said the Trumps reach not know Erickson or have any opinion more or less him new than what was included in the email. He said the person appeared to be a Trump fanatic, pointing to opinion that had already been released publicly by WikiLeaks.

"He's not affiliated gone than anybody," Garten said.

Garten said there's no evidence Trump personally saying the email. The president doesn't use email, and the statement went to an account for Trump that isn't monitored, he said.
