A Tory Lanez fight broke out at Toronto’s Rebel Complex yesterday July 4th.

Trouble started after the 25-year-old Toronto-born rapper asked his fans to raise their hands up. Seemingly one fan didn't and Tory Lanez jumped in the crowd, swinging blows.



Lanez had launched a world tour to back his new album, Memories Don’t Die which was released in early-March of this year. Stops for Tory Lanez concert were in America, Canada, England, and throughout Europe.

The Canadian leg of the tour brought Lanez to Toronto on Wednesday, July 4, between stops in Chicago and Buffalo. And that was where the Tory Lanez fight broke out.

Who is Tory Lanez?
Tory Lanez, birth name is Daystar Peterson, has gained notoriety ever since he first released his mixtape Lost Cause back in 2014, with hits “Say It” and “Luv” finding their way onto the Billboard Hot 100.

In the years that followed, he has released studio albums I Told You in 2014, and most recently Memories Don’t Die.

His friend Hakeem gave him the nickname 'Lanez' due to the rapper's troublemaking tendencies - he used to run into roads and play in the lanes, without looking at the traffic.

Tory Lanez is 5ft 7, or 1.70m. He was born on 27th July, 1992, his father is from Barbados, whilst his mother is from the Caribbean island Curacao.

Tory Lanez's mother Luella died of a rare disease when he was just 11 years-old. He would tell the Guardian in an interview:
“At the time I was being very bad because I didn’t know how to express myself.

"Music gave me an outlet to express myself and channel that anger.”
Tory Lanez is good friends with Meek Mill. The pair even recorded a track on Meek's new album 'DC4' together, entitled 'Litty'. Together also, Tory Lanez and Meek Mill have a long-serving beef with Drake.

Tory is from Toronto in Ontario, Canada - the same city as rival rapper Drake.
How Tory Lanez Beef with Drake started:
Tory Lanez has a six year rivalry with Drake. Trouble started when Tory was 17-years-old, he had sent his 'Play For Keeps' mixtape to Drake, betting Drizzy $10k if he wasn’t impressed.

However Drake never got back to him, sparking the pair's six year rivalry. Drake took a dig at Tory in 'Summer Sixteen', whilst Tory hit back claiming calling Toronto 'The Six' wasn't cool.

Tory would later remix Drake's 'Controlla' and the remix has over 8.3 million plays on Soundcloud.
Tory's remix blew up, and is one of his most famous tracks to date.

According to Forbes, the young rapper-who-sings Tory Lanez is worth approximately $2.5million.
