Usually organised in March, the spike in COVID-19 cases earlier this year has meant that TEFAF -perhaps the most important of all the world's art fairs- takes place in June, almost coinciding with other colossal fairs, such as Art Basel, BRAFA, or Masterpiece London.
Hidde van Seggelen, president of the fair, said "I speak for our whole dealer community when I express how thrilling it is to be returning for the 35th edition of TEFAF Maastricht. The wealth of history and expertise presented by our exhibitors has always been extraordinary and this year will be no exception. For this year, we are delighted to join some of the world’s great art and cultural events taking place alongside our flagship event making Europe in June a destination of choice for global collectors and lovers of art."
In total, 243 galleries from 20 countries around the world are taking part in TEFAF. Well-known specialists in ancient art (David Aaron, Jean-David Cahn A.G.), medieval art (De Backker Art, Blumka Gallery, Galerie Chenel, Les Enluminures), old masters (Colnaghi, De Jonckheere, Robilant+Voena, Stair Sainty Gallery) or modern art (Brame & Lorenceau, Dickinson, Richard Green, Wildenstein & Co.) are returning. In addition to these long-established galleries, TEFAF Showcase welcomes for the first time six recently created galleries: Bartha Contemporary (UK), Galerie Nicolas Bourriaud (France), Imperial Art (France), Galerie Mendes (France), Galerie Pauline Pavec (France) and Royal Provenance (France).
