The Center for Politics' Crystal Ball, overseen by the University of Virginia and Larry Sabato, rated the three-way race as a tossup, which deviates from its usual rating of "leans Republican."

The three-way race on Nov. 6 for governor involves incumbent Republican Kim Reynolds, Democratic opponent Fred Hubbell and Libertarian opponent Jake Porter.

Sabato stated that the rating changed due to the overall political environment in the state, which leans in the direction of the Democrats due to approval ratings falling for President Donald Trump.

Two Congressional districts which Trump carried in 2016 are also rated as tossups with Republican incumbents.
