NOKOMIS (Heartland Newsfeed) -- Tri-Counties Libertarian Party, a local affiliate chapter of the Libertarian Party of Illinois, announces that they will be holding a Toy Drive, which will be taking place until December 16.
The event began earlier this month, with many toys being donated to the drive, and all toys donated will be distributed to Angel Tree programs within Montgomery, Christian, Shelby and Sangamon counties shortly after the end of the drive in time for Christmas.
“There has been a misconception about Libertarians for many years that we’re selfish, which is the furthest thing from the truth,” said chairman Jake Leonard. “This is our opportunity to prove that we are not selfish by helping our local Angel Tree programs.”
The local group is seeking potential donation locations to accept donations, whether for a single day or throughout the entire drive, within all four counties and can contact Leonard at (217) 851-0747. Currently, donations can be dropped off at the Free Press-Progress, 112 W. State in Nokomis, during business hours of 8 AM to 5 PM. Donations will also be accepted during the Downtown Nokomis Association’s Christmas In Nokomis celebration on Saturday, November 2 and Saturday, November 9.
Locations and dates will be posted on their Facebook page at facebook.com/tricountylibertarians, on their website at tricountylibertarians.org and on the state Libertarian Party website at lpillinois.org.
